The goal of this microgrant program is to support small businesses with either emergency funding (i.e. to address flood damage, unexpected bills, sudden reduction in restaurant seating) or business development (i.e. updated menus, new POS system, upgrading outdoor sign).
​If you are not sure that your business’ need falls into the above categories, please apply anyway! We can connect you to resources that are a better fit or partner with you in other ways.

Any small business can apply. Translation support is available — please email [email protected] to connect with someone who speaks your language. The grant form is also translatable using browser tools and we have a photo step by step guide on the form.

Application Timeline
  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis from now until May 15 (or until funding is completely distributed). 
  • We are reviewing grants and disbursing grant funds on a biweekly cadence. After you apply, you should hear from us within 2-3 weeks. If your application is accepted, the funds will be distributed within two weeks; we are only able to disburse funds via business bank account transfer or physical check. We cannot award grant money through cash or venmo. 
  • If your application isn’t a good fit for our grant, we will reply with other resources and support possibilities! 
We know that not everyone we’re trying to reach is online – if you know a small business who could benefit from this microgrant, please share this with them! 
This microgrant program was inspired by the resilience of the merchants Send Chinatown Love is in contact with — we’ve seen these small businesses weather rising rents, emergency repairs, policy changes, and increased supply costs. And we’ve seen the leaps of faith they’ve taken by purchasing new signage, hiring more staff, upgrading equipment, and trying to reach new audiences because they believe in their business. We believe in them too, and this microgrant is one small way we can help make these dreams a reality.
